2024 PBC SHRM HR Awards


The 2024 prestigious HR Awards are right around the corner! We invite you to nominate outstanding SHRM members who have significantly impacted our chapter and the broader community.

Please take a few moments to complete the simple form below to nominate professionals who deserve recognition this year!

Winners will receive:

  • A formal award presentation on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the PBC SHRM Holiday Party at Wanderer's Club, from 6-9 p.m.
  • A featured announcement on the PBC SHRM website and social media platforms.
  • An email announcement to all PBC SHRM members.
  • A notification to the nominator (if not a PBC SHRM member) to acknowledge this distinguished honor.

Award Criteria

HR Professional of the Year

This award recognizes an outstanding SHRM member and HR professional who has elevated the field through leadership, innovation, and impact.

  • The recipient must be a member of the PBC SHRM Chapter.
  • Demonstrated success and notable HR  achievements in support of their organization.
  • Possesses a BS or Master’s degree in Human Resources and/or PHR/SPHR, SHRM CP/  SHRM SCP.
  • Requires demonstrated commitment to the HR Profession as evidenced by active involvement in PBC SHRM, FPHRA, HR Florida, CUPA-HR or similar.
  • Possesses a reputation for ethical standards and personal impact in representing SHRM’s HR practices within their  organization and the broader community.


Diversity and Inclusion Champion

This award recognizes an individual and SHRM member dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace, and
 inspiring positive change within their organization or the local community.

        The recipient must be a member of the PBC SHRM Chapter.
        Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DIB) within the workplace and HR community.
        Successfully implemented innovative and effective DIB practices for their organization or in another organization’s HR function.


HR Rising Star (or Emerging Professional)

This award celebrates a promising HR professional who has shown exceptional potential and growth early in their career,
setting them apart as a future leader.

  •  The recipient must be a member of the PBC SHRM Chapter.
  •   Has 1 to 5 years of professional experience in the Human Resources field.
  •  Currently holds an HR role and demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and development.
  • Showcases leadership potential through successful project management, team collaboration, or other leadership responsibilities within the HR function.
  •  Evidence of ongoing professional development, such as pursuing HR certifications, attending workshops, or actively participating in industry-related events.


Service Provider of the Year (Vendor/Sponsor)

This award celebrates a PBC SHRM vendor/sponsor who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in service, innovation, and partnership, significantly contributing to the success of PBC SHRM.

  • Must have supported PBC SHRM as a Vendor or Sponsor during 2024.
  • Demonstrates consistent delivery of high-quality services/products and customer service.
  • Actively engages in a collaborative partnership with PBC SHRM, showing a commitment to building long-term relationships.
  • Supports SHRM’s mission of advancing the HR profession.
  • Participates in and/or supports PBC SHRM-sponsored events, webinars, conference or other educational initiatives.


HR Volunteer of the Year

This award celebrates an HR professional who has shown exceptional commitment and made significant contributions to
PBC SHRM and/or HR Florida through volunteer service.


        The recipient must be a member of the PBC SHRM Chapter.
        Went above and beyond the typical expectations of their role by dedicating extra time and effort to ensure success.
        Demonstrated leadership by taking on complex projects, initiating new ideas, or improving existing programs.
        Helped build a sense of community and fostered collaboration, encouraging members to become volunteers. 

Mentor of the Year

This award celebrates an HR professional who demonstrates exceptional mentorship, leadership, and commitment to the growth and development of fellow HR practitioners. The award highlights the mentor’s positive influence, dedication, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of others in the HR community.

  • The recipient must be a member of the PBC SHRM Chapter.
  • Has mentored individuals or groups, helping them achieve their career goals and professional development.
  • Actively promotes the success of mentees by facilitating networking opportunities, job placements, or professional growth.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and serves as a positive role model for other HR professionals. Encourages others to get involved in SHRM and other HR-related organizations to foster continued growth and development.


HR Team of the Year

This award celebrates HR professionals who as part of an HR team play a key role in driving results through HR best practices to ensure an outstanding work culture. These members serve as trusted advisors to employees and management in support of organizational strategy. 

  • At least one member of the team must be a member of the PBC SHRM chapter where team is defined as two or more HR Professionals.
  • Executed at least one innovative HR strategy with demonstrated results.
  • Has delivered consistent value to the organization through multiple initiatives.
  • Recognized as instrumental in the performance and reputation of the organization.


HR Lifetime Achievement Award (awarded at the sole discretion of the Leadership Team)

This award is to recognize and honor a member of PBC SHRM who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to the field of HR throughout their career. This award is given to acknowledge a lifetime of contributions that have positively impacted the HR profession and supported the workplace in measurable ways.

  • Minimum of 15 years of continuous service to the profession with leadership skills demonstrated through at least one year of service as a Board member or Leadership Team Chair at any SHRM chapter.
  • Possesses a proven track record of outstanding achievements and contributions to the HR profession highlighting innovation, leadership, and strategic impact.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentorship and development of HR professionals fostering growth and excellence within the HR community.
  • Possesses an HR professional credential (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
